Hello.
It is possible to use 160 GB disk at x1000 notebook ??

kf_man

I don't see why not, but I don't think that it has been done before.  I had up to 100GB in my laptop without issue and granted the new drive is IDE, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

It shure works. 160 GB Samsung in my nx7010 - works great :-)

Yes. It is true . I bought 160 GB 5400 rpm Hitachi and it works perfectly.

Not really sure if the Mod will allow this (let's see).

I have brand new untouched (but drooled upon) 160GB Seagate 3G 7200rpm SATA II 2.5" laptop drives for $175.
I have 23 of them.

Because KFMan is an old X1000forum friend, for free I will partition it, format it any which way you want, (FAT32, NTFS, HPFS, ReiserFS, Ext2FS, Ext3FS, Swap, etc) prior to sending it.

If you so desire, I can mirror your old drive onto your new drive and send it all to you, no extra cost. (That way, you have two complete bootable copies of your data.)
I can even provide disk recovery service and I've been doing that since 1991.

Anyways, just a cheap service to the board.

120GB Seagate Momentus 5400.3 (using perpendicular magnetic recording technology) works on mine. It is supposed to offer improved performance (faster, quieter, cooler, more reliable) over longitudinal HDDs. Its just less than one day old so I can't make any conclusions yet. No problems so far whilst inside my X1000. However, I did encounter "knocking" twice whilst connected externally (using enclosure) so its far from perfect.
