Technical Issues / Re: Laptoptek
August 25, 2006, 11:12:09 PM
You are right! The first card I got was obviously a used one. And it doesn't work

Although they replace one for me, but this "new" one just last one day.

So, never buy their cards.

Beware! Laptoptek doesn't sell new ones, mine was definitely a refurbished card! Maybe they work, maybe they don't. Mine came as DOA - dead on arrival. Laptoptek doesn't care about it, though they claim it on every auction. No mails regarding this will be answered!

Absolutely not recommended - take care!

hmmm... do u know if the computer will boot w/o video card? if it does, then it's gotta be the motherboard... hopefully i can borrow my buddy's x1000 and swap video cards with him and see whats wrong :P

you had better not to involve your buddy into this trouble, coz the heat-sinking of this type laptop is intricate, now I get into troulbe, either the new video card or the CPU is over-heated.

Technical Issues / Radeon 9200= Radeon 9000?
July 28, 2006, 01:41:20 AM
I just dissemble my zt3000, and found that the GPU is labeled as " ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 ", but according to the manual, all the zt3000/x1000/nx7000 should use 9200 or 7500 as GPU. I wonder if this is a cheating behavior of HP.

And the pic in Dan's guide thread of updating Video Card shows that he also got a 9000.

What's more, I found that in the receipt of my notebook it is listed as  64MB ATI mobility Radeon 9200. But, I rember that ther was just 32MB inside (according to display property in winxp). BTW, is there any one could tell me how to tell the memory capacity from the appearance of this card?

I think maybe we should co-act to inquiry HP with this issue ( including the design defect of overheating, my video card GPU is also red goop round corners )

Ok, I get know that my zt3000 died in a traditional way, the radeon 9200 32M overheat issue.
But now, I have another problem. When I tried to remove the keyboard, I  broke the swith cover for the conduction ribbon

So, the zt3000 can coduct most of self-test, but it hold after cmos check, reuqiring me to choose "F1: save changs; F2: Ignore Changes: F10 Computer Setup"

Withou keyboard, I can do nothing. And at this step, even the external USB keyboard doesn't work!!!

What shall I do?

Thanks

Technical Issues / My Zt3000 is dead?!
July 23, 2006, 08:48:54 PM
Hi guys,

    I need your help!
My Zt3000 suddenly refused to boot up. When I turn on the power, the screen is always black, no beep, and the optical drive is keeping roating( I mean it always try to read the disk. And I can not eject the CD-rom. Even after I force out the cd rom, the optical drive is still rotating!!!
Some times it can boot up, if I pull out the supplementary memory, but after I changed the BIOS parameters, it will not boot up again!
I doubt that something is wrong  with the cmos, so I am trying to replace the CMOS battery, but I can not find it inside the notebook.
Could you tell me the position of the CMOS battery, and give me some suggestions about other possible reasons?

Thanks
